FAQ for Mentors <3

What do I need to become a mentor?
You identify yourself as a 'Woman in Tech' and have at least 2 years of professional experience in the tech area. You would love to share your knowledge with other women, give something back and be a role model. You also support our mission to bring more diversity into the tech world and would like to make a personal contribution.
How much time do I need for this?
You can decide on your own how much time you want to invest. In your calendar you can offer as many slots for mentoring sessions as you like. Please make sure that your calendar is always up to date and that you don't give the impression that you are generally not available.
How does a mentoring session work?
This individually depends on each mentor. Mentees have the opportunity to tell you during the booking process what they would like to talk about. This way, you can usually think about the topics in advance. We see a mentoring session as a casual, respectful and open conversation. Please consider it a matter of course to treat sensitive or personal information of your mentee confidentially.
Which tools do I need for an online session?
There are several ways to invite your mentee to an online session. Examples would be Zoom or Google Meet. By the way, you can already create the links when you set up your calendar via Calendly. They will be sent directly to your mentee with the booking confirmation.
Will I be compensated for the mentoring sessions?
CoffeeCodeBreak does not pursue monetary goals, but the honest vision of a more diverse tech world. Therefore the mentoring sessions are not paid. But you gain a network, appreciation and the priceless feeling of having contributed something meaningful :)
Can I book mentoring sessions myself?
Sure, absolutely! Take the chance to get to know other women in the tech sector, have a conversation and grow together with them.
Can I cancel already booked sessions?
You can cancel booked sessions at any time. However, please consider this option as an emergency solution and absolute exception. Not only you, but also your mentees plan time for the sessions and trust us.
What else should I consider as a mentor?
Should it actually happen that a mentee
  • clearly violates the terms and conditions and uses the mentoring session to sell you a product, for example
  • pays much less attention to respectful and appreciative behaviour or our social values in general than you would like
  • books multiple sessions with you and cancels them again
please report this via email to coffeecodebreak.team@gmail.com.
Of course this also applies vice versa to the way you deal with your mentees.
How do I network with the other mentors?
Feel free to book mentoring sessions with other mentors to get to know them. As a mentor you will also receive an invitation to join our network on LinkedIn. There you will also learn about meetings and events.
How can I update my profile?
If you want to make changes to your profile, please send an email with the relevant information to coffeecodebreak.team@gmail.com.
Can I leave coffeecodebreak at any time?
Yes, you can leave coffeecodebreak at any time. Write a mail to coffeecodebreak.team@gmail.com. Your profile will be removed from the platform as soon as possible.
Of course it is very sad to lose you. We really appreciate feedback that helps us to understand why you are leaving us.

FAQ for Mentees <3

What do I need to become a mentee?
Curiosity about the tech industry and the desire to connect with other women.
Do I have to register to become a mentee?
No, you do not have to apply or register. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to access our mentors. Therefore you can directly access the calendar of the mentor of your choice and book a session with her.
Are there any costs for me?
No, the mentoring sessions are free for you.
Which tools do I need for an online session?
Usually you will receive an email with a link from your mentor that will allow you to log into your session. Frequently used tools are for example Zoom or Google Meet. So you don't need anything except internet and, if possible, a webcam.
What can I expect from a mentoring session?
When you book a session, you have the opportunity to tell your mentor what you would like to discuss with her. This will help your mentor to assess your expectations and to think about your topics in advance.
We will do our best to give you the most enriching mentoring experience possible. Of course, sometimes you may not find exactly the answers you were hoping for. Our mentors see themselves as impulse-givers who share their experiences and perspectives with you. They help you to reflect, can serve as inspiration and can introduce you to exciting resources. Ultimately, it is of course up to you to decide what you will take on and make of it.
How often can I book sessions with the same mentor?
You have found a mentor with whom you would like to meet more often? Please discuss with her whether you should continue to book sessions with her via coffeecodebreak or whether you should meet otherwise. If you continue booking sessions via coffeecodebreak, please be considerate of the other mentees and give them the opportunity to get to know your mentor as well ;)
Can I cancel an already booked session?
Yes, you can cancel a booked session at any time. However, please consider this option as an emergency solution and absolute exception. Remember that our mentors will give you their valuable time to support you. CoffeeCodeBreak only works if we all treat our time responsibly.
Can I also join the network as a mentee?
Sure. We are happy to have you with us! Just request membership in our LinkedIn network. Through our network you can connect with other mentors and mentees, participate in discussions, resources and events.
